City on the River

Ansis has an innocent occupation – he is a sign painter. His craft is in demand with all of the rules – the authoritarian regime of pre-war Latvia, the communists, and the Nazis.  Ansis loves the Jewish girl Zisla but the girl’s father puts obstacles in the path of their love. Following a chain of misunderstandings, Ansis all of a sudden becomes the boyfriend of a Latvian girl, Naiga. Between the three regimes that destroy his city and the two women who break his heart, he has to make one choice...
